Can I have my dividends paid directly into my bank account?

Yes, you can do this by setting up a dividend mandate or payment instruction. This means that your cheque cannot get lost in the post and you will not have to wait for the cheque to clear once deposited in your bank account. Once you have set up a dividend mandate, future dividends will be paid directly into your account and the cleared funds will be available to you on the dividend payment date.

To arrange this, either:

(i) call the Equiniti Shareholder Helpline

(ii) complete a Dividend Instruction Form and send it to Equiniti, the Group’s registrar. If you have any questions regarding the completion of the this form, please contact Equiniti.

What is Go-Ahead's policy on hard copy and electronic communications?

As far as possible, except where shareholders have requested otherwise (or are new shareholders since the most recent shareholder e-communication consultation), Go-Ahead provides shareholder documents via the Group’s website allowing communication with shareholders in the quickest, most environmentally friendly and cost-effective way. How secure are my shares and my personal information?

Shareholders are advised to be cautious of any unsolicited advice, offers to buy shares at a discount, or offers of free reports about the Group. The Group does not endorse any specific share dealing facilities and will not pass on shareholder information to any third party, however, as required by law, the Group's register is open to public inspection. Any requests for access to the register are subject to 'proper purpose' requirements to ensure that the information is not used unlawfully.

What do I do if I have been contacted by a overseas-based ‘broker’?

Overseas-based ‘brokers' who target UK shareholders employ two common approaches:

  1. the caller is offering shares for sale, which often turn out to be worthless or high risk in US or UK investments;
  2. the individual is advised that there is an imminent offer from the group they hold shares in, and the caller is offering to buy their shares at a price significantly above the current market rate. This may involve the payment of an ‘administration fee', or transferring the shares to the caller company.

These operations are commonly known as ‘boiler room fraud'. These callers can be very persistent and persuasive. They often have websites to support their activities, their advice and the companies they purport to represent.

If you believe you have been contacted in this way, the following steps should be taken:

  • Obtain the name of the person and organisation contacting you
  • Check the FCA Register at www.fca.org.uk/register to ensure they are properly authorised
  • Use the details on the FCA Register to contact the firm.
  • Call the FCA Consumer Helpline on 0800 111 6768 if there are no contact details on the register or you are told they are out of date.

If you receive telephone calls, emails, letters purporting to be from The Go-Ahead Group plc or from companies endorsed by The Go-Ahead Group plc and you are unsure if they are legitimate, please contact Equiniti’s Shareholder Helpline.

Please note that should you use an unauthorised firm to buy or sell shares or other investments, you will not have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if things go wrong.

If you are approached about a share scam you should inform the FCA at www.fca.org.uk/consumers/scams, where you can find out about the latest investment scams, or call the FCA consumer helpline on 0800 111 6768.

If you have already paid money to share fraudsters you should contact Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
