Derek Twigg MP launched The Go-Ahead Group's 2005 Environmental and Social Report at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton.
Mr Twigg said: "Succesful businesses are recognising the need to operate in an ethical and accountable manner - the Transport industry is no exception. Go-Ahead's report is yet another step in this process. I am delighted to be asked to launch Go-Ahead's CSR report and applaud its commitment to audited public reporting.
Chris Moyes, chief executive, Go-Ahead, said: "At Go-Ahead we place a premium on putting corporate responsibility at the heart of our business management. We have come a long way since we launched the first CSR report in the UK public transport industry. Again, I believe our 2005 report sets a new benchmark for our sector."
In the coming week a series of more detailed reports will be published for each of Go-Ahead's individual operating companies and then, at the end of October, a fully interactive web site will be available to the public.
