In conjunction with the recent publication by Plymouth City Council ('PCC') of a report regarding the sale of Plymouth CityBus ('PCB') on its website, the Go-Ahead Group plc ("Go-Ahead") is pleased to confirm it has offered to acquire for cash 100% of the share capital of PCB from PCC for an enterprise value of £20m.

This follows the announcement on 12 November that Go-Ahead had been selected as preferred bidder for the business. Completion is subject to full council approval, which is expected at the end of this month.

PCB operates a high quality fleet of 173 buses and 11 coaches from a large freehold depot in the centre of Plymouth, carrying around 14 million passengers each year across a wide network in and around the City. For the financial year ended 31 March 2009, the revenue for PCB was £17.6m and underlying earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was £2.5m.

Plymouth CityBus

CityBus was formed in 1986 following the 1985 Transport Act (deregulation) and is wholly owned by Plymouth City Council. It provides a local bus service in the urban area of Plymouth in Devon in the South West of England.

Plymouth CityBus currently secures just over 60% of the Plymouth market measured in patronage terms with a fleet of approximately 180 vehicles and an annual turnover in excess of £15million. It employs 485 staff and is based from a site located in Milehouse in Plymouth of just over 10 acres.
