Go-Ahead bus company Bluestar receives funding for free customer wifi
04 July 2012

Bluestar, one of Go-Ahead’s bus companies based on the South Coast, has been awarded funding to fit its entire fleet of 120 vehicles with free customer wifi.

The funding has been received from Transport for South Hampshire following success in the recent ‘Better bus area’ funding awarded by the Department for Transport and approved by Transport Minister Norman Baker.

Free wifi will be available to customers on all Bluestar services, including Uni-link bus services which are operated in partnership with the University of Southampton, by October 2012.

Representing an investment of over £230,000, the funding will improve the on-bus experience for customers using Bluestar and Uni-link services across Southampton and South Hampshire.

Ed Willis, Divisional Director of Go South Coast said: "The deal highlights the success of working in partnership with local authorities to deliver real benefits to passengers and improve the attractiveness of public transport as an alternative to the private car."
