Wilts & Dorset was first seen on the sides of buses in the Salisbury area in 1915, and from 1983 the Company’s area of operation has included Poole, Bournemouth, Purbeck, Lymington and part of the New Forest as well as Salisbury and South Wiltshire. Wilts & Dorset became part of the Go-Ahead Group in 2003.
Wilts & Dorset operates under two main brands ‘more’ covering the Bournemouth and Poole area and ‘Salisbury Reds’ covering Salisbury and parts of Wiltshire.

The company continues to invest in its fleet with the addition of 36 new vehicles operating on the successful m1 and m2 bus services linking the conurbation. Fitted with free customer wifi with spacious and modern interiors these buses provide a real alternative for the travelling public. Working in close partnership with the local authority ‘more’ has successfully helped improve the quality of bus travel. Salisbury Reds buses were first introduced in 2008 and more recently the popular cross-county X3, X5, X7 and Activ8 routes have been revamped, with increasing numbers of customers finding them a simple, convenient way to travel for work, shopping and leisure. The Reds network continues to be popular choice for local residents and like many others have embraced the new technology of the key smartcard choosing to buy their bus travel in advance online. In this historic tourist area, Salisbury Reds works in close partnership with the local councils to ensure our environmental impact is minimised to help preserve the historic medieval town. Keeping in touch with our customers is vital for our business and Salisbury Reds takes pride in providing quality information to our customers to ensure they can make well informed travel decisions. Training is also vital for our business and we have a well informed and motivated workforce which helps to grow customers across the network of services.
Bluestar offers high quality services to residents of South Hampshire with a strong focus in and around Southampton. With a strong easily identifiable local brand, Bluestar continues to go from strength to strength. In 2012 Bluestar was successfully shortlisted for the UK bus awards shire operator of the year award and has also won awards during 2012 for ‘the key’ our innovative smartcard and our Engineering Manager won the prestigious route one award for Engineer of the Year in 2012.
Working closely with the local authorities, communities and customers, Bluestar is at the forefront of ensuring a sustainable and vibrant transport network exists in South Hampshire. Since 2008 Bluestar has also been working in close partnership with The University of Southampton in the provision of the extremely high quality Uni-Link bus services which has a strong and independent brand that is well known and respected in Southampton.
Southern Vectis has been at the heart of Island life since 1929 and is very much part of the fabric of the Island. Providing an extremely comprehensive and high frequency network connecting the core population areas, Southern Vectis offers a real and attractive alternative to the car. Working closely in partnership with the Isle of Wight Council, Southern Vectis delivers high quality public transport solutions that seek to meet the Island’s travel needs and aspirations now and into the future.
The company also operates a range of tourist focused services across the island, including the famous 'Needles Breezer' tour, reputedly the most scenic bus tour in the British Isles. Vectis Blue is the brand name for its school transport, carrying 5,000 students each school day in a fleet of modern high-spec vehicles.
The islands buses run from early to late, seven days per week, 365 days per year (including Christmas Day) and up to 3am on Friday and Saturday nights. Our network of community buses are run as an innovative partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and local parishes connecting rural communities with our main network of services. We continue to innovate with the launch of 'the key' smartcard in April 2012 and introduction of through ticketing from the island to London in conjunction with National Express and Hovertravel.
Damory & Tourist
In June 2012, Damory Coaches was awarded a transformational contract from Dorset County Council to operate local bus services requiring around 180 vehicles on a five year contract. As well as providing coach and bus hire, Damory provides a number of bus services in Dorset, linking up rural communities and providing an important service to residents.
Tourist is one of the Wiltshire’s biggest and best known coach operators providing executive coaches, standard coaches, mini coaches, and school and college buses. Tourist coaches are a familiar sight across the UK and the continent.
Hants & Dorset Trim
Hants & Dorset Trim specialises in vehicle refurbishment and repair. After becoming part of the Go-Ahead Group early in 2006 and working from Barton Park, Eastleigh, since March 2007, investments have included the installation of a paint drying oven capable of accommodating almost any bus or coach currently used by European operators and which can dry the new livery on a double deck bus in 35 minutes. From re-upholstery through to major repairs, Hants & Dorset Trim takes a pride in offering a cost effective, prompt and efficient service and is the UK’s leading vehicle refurbishment specialist
