Go-Ahead’s bus companies ‘most trusted’ by passengers

The latest national bus passenger survey, published by passenger watchdog organisation, Transport Focus, has found that more passengers trust their Go-Ahead company than the other five large transport groups.

Go-Ahead received the best reaction of the larger operating groups with 47 per cent of passengers trusting the company.

The survey research also showed that getting the basics right is key to achieving customers’ trust. Value for money is important as well as reliability and punctuality and tackling anti social behaviour was also a priority for passengers.

Two thirds of all public transport journeys are made using the bus in Great Britain – and every day million journeys are made on Go-Ahead’s regional bus company services.  The survey also demonstrated that even people who don’t use buses or only use them infrequently believe they are important to the local area.

David Sidebottom, passenger director at Transport Focus, said:

“Passengers want a reliable, frequent bus service that is value for money. Bus companies need to do more to do more than just sell tickets. Passengers are more likely to trust their bus company if they feel their custom is valued.”

Martin Dean, MD of bus development at The Go-Ahead Group added:

“Our aim is to encourage people to choose to travel by bus by making our services convenient, reliable and by our local employees being friendly, welcoming and caring for customers. There’s always more that we can do to continually improve the services we offer. We invest in apps to make planning journeys and buying tickets easy and several of our routes now have onboard wifi and phone charging sockets.”
