Our buses provide a large canvas across cities and towns, which we want to put to good use.
The Oxford Bus Company runs a yearly competition to encourage charities and good causes to “brand the bus”. The winner will have their own branded livery added to double decker bus for a year.
The competition gives charities and good causes the chance to market their organisation to the wider public. For both the 2019 and 2020 competition more than 6,000 members of the public gave their vote on who they felt deserved to win. From more than 30 shortlisted applicants, this was then whittled down to ten. A judging panel choosing the overall winner.
The 2019 winners, Girlguiding Oxfordshire, designed a bright blue bus to encourage girls to get involved with the association. This bus travelled through the city for a year and was a feature at key events such as the Abingdon Air show. Home-Start Oxfordshire, a voluntary organisation providing welfare support, won the 2020 competition. They were then invited to work with the Oxford Bus Company to design a bus wrap featuring brand colours, logos and messages of their organisation.
This competition will be continued in years to come and shows our commitment to giving back to the communities that we serve.
