We’re transitioning to zero-emission and improving energy efficiency across the business.
Our journey in zero-Emission transport operations began 10 years ago with the launch of our first electric bus. Since then, we’ve grown to operate 1,500 zero-emission buses, covering 24 million miles annually. We’ve also built the first all-electric bus depot in both the UK and Europe, and now run the largest zero-emission bus fleet in the UK. Further energy savings across our bus operation are driven by LED lighting upgrades, and telemetry systems that reduce overall energy consumption.
Our zero-emission and energy reducing initiatives are reinforced by our ISO 50001 certification for energy management across the UK and Ireland, and ISO 14001 certification for environmental management at Go North West, and Go Ahead Sweden.
Investing in zero-emission buses
Our efforts are driving cleaner air, water conservation, and effective recycling.
Our low and zero-emission fleets are key to cutting harmful pollutants like CO, HC, NOx, and PM emissions. In Crawley, our hydrogen buses are designed to improve local air quality, and our electrification efforts will help us meet 2025 air quality targets. We’re striving to conserve water, aiming to reduce our water use by 25% by 2025 through smart solutions like efficient bus wash systems, tap sensors, and proactive leak management. We’ve taken steps to improve waste management and recycling practices across our depots targeting a recycling rate of 60%.
