Go-Ahead Group becomes White Ribbon accredited

Go-Ahead Group has become White Ribbon accredited in the UK, committing to help prevent violence and intimidation against women and girls. It’s also working towards accreditation in Ireland.

White Ribbon UK is a leading charity dedicated to ending men’s violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes – including harmful attitudes, behaviours, and societal norms linked to gender inequality.

Across Go-Ahead, care is a core value: care for customers, colleagues and communities – and one that we demonstrate through action. Achieving White Ribbon accreditation reflects the Group’s commitment to creating safer environments and fostering a culture of respect, equality, and shared responsibility.

This commitment is particularly important in public transport. According to British Transport Police data, nearly one in three women have experienced harassment or unwanted behaviour while travelling on public transport. As one of the UK’s largest bus and rail operators, Go-Ahead recognises the important role it plays in helping to ensure that its services and workplaces are safe and welcoming for everyone.

As a White Ribbon accredited organisation, Go-Ahead will work with White Ribbon UK to develop and deliver a three-year action plan focused on prevention, culture change and creating safer environments for women and girls.

This includes empowering colleagues as White Ribbon Ambassadors and Champions, alongside providing targeted training to equip teams with the awareness, confidence and practical tools to recognise, safely respond to and report incidents.

While this partnership begins in the UK, Go-Ahead is committed to addressing this issue across its international operations working to ensure that everyone who works with or travels with the Group feels safe.

Daniel Lewis, Chief Commercial Officer, Go-Ahead, said: “We are proud to become White Ribbon accredited. The ability to travel without fear should never be taken for granted – yet for many women and girls, it is not the reality. As a major public transport operator, we have a clear responsibility to help create environments where everyone feels safe and respected.

This is not just about raising awareness; it’s about taking action. By engaging our people and embedding a culture of respect, equality and shared responsibility, we are working to drive lasting change for our colleagues, customers and the communities we serve.”

Lynne Elliot, White Ribbon CEO, said:White Ribbon accredited organisations can make a real difference towards ending violence against women by promoting a culture of respect and equality among their staff and wider communities.

By raising awareness among employees, people can learn how to become allies and call out violent and abusive behaviour when they see it. We are delighted to welcome Go-Ahead Group as one of our White Ribbon accredited organisations and are looking forward to working with them towards ending violence against women once and for all.
