International Railway Summit 2018
Last week the 6th International Railway Summit was held in Prague, Czech Republic, in the very heart of Europe.
It was a meeting of the world’s key rail sector buyers and leading technical experts.
Enrique Fernandez-Pino, Go-Ahead Group CIO, attended and spoke about his personal passenger journey and how one of the largest Transport Operators in the UK believe that improvement of the customer’s digital journey will result in an ultimate increase in physical patronage.
Furthermore, Enrique took part in a stimulating panel discussion moderated by OECD Economist Lorenzo Casullo and accompanied by Christopher Irwin (European Passengers’ Federation), Michael Westermann (DILAX), Caroline Whittam (Transport for Greater Manchester), Marek Zděradička (Prague Institute of Planning and Development) and Laura Wright (Rail Delivery Group). This discussion centred on passenger satisfaction and how the industry may improve in this area using new technologies, big data, ticketing systems, and journey planning apps to provide seamless travel.
The debate also included whether these necessary investments will pay off in terms of the ROI and improvement in the city’s quality of life.
