Heart starters on hand

Having defibrillators readily available can help to save lives.

Defibrillators can raise survival rates from cardiac arrest from 6% to an incredible 74%.

Defib2.jpeg Plymouth Citybus was the first company in the UK to install heart starters across its buses. These were installed in partnership with Hearts Together, a heart disease charity operating across the south west of England. Drivers have been trained to use them and members of the public can also access them.

Our rail company GTR has installed hundreds of defibrillators across its network in partnership with the Sussex Heart Charity.  Initially trialled across 50 stations, at the end of 2019 they were rolled out across the rest of the Thameslink, Great Northern and Southern stations.

Nearly 95% of cardiac arrests prove fatal when they go untreated. Defribillators dramatically improve the likelihood of survival.
